2 GUESTS allowed. NO Children NO Pets: Only 2 guests permitted at the same time, and NO PETS NO CHILDREN ALLOWED.
*WINTER STAYS: If you are coming to Vermont in the winter months, please understand that Vermont can get lots of snow, which means you should come with the proper vehicle. It is NOT our responsibility if you get stuck in our driveway or get stuck driving here or leaving here. If you get stuck, you will have to get yourself out or call a towing company and that is something you are responsible for, not the host. I will not physically tow you or find the towing company for you. This is something you will have to do on your own. Guests who have arrived with the appropriate vehicle have never had any issues getting in and out when there is snow, so it shouldn't be a problem. We provide the space. How you get here and leave here is your responsibility.
KEEP OUTDOOR AREA THE WAY YOU FOUND IT: If you sit outside where the outdoor chairs are and you use the blankets on the chair and pillows, please put everything back the way it was in the outdoor area. If you take a blanket from inside and bring it outside please put it back inside. Our cleaning ladies do not clean up the outside, they clean the inside of the suite. It is your responsibility to put everything back where it was in the outdoor area. Also do not leave any garbage or food in the outdoor area.
NO SMOKING INDOORS. Smoking is not permitted inside the suite. You can smoke as long as it's outside, and please just clean up after yourself, and safely dispose of cigarette butts or tobacco products.
**INDOOR ELECTRICAL BREAKER TRIP: Please be aware that if you are going to use multiple appliances at the same time, such as Tea Kettle, Microwave, Hot Plate, AC, blow dryer, you may trip the breaker. I we are not around for the weekend I will give you instructions on how to reset it, but it can be a bit of a hassle so just try to avoid putting on too many appliances on at the same time. (You should be ok running tv and fireplace at same time though, but fireplace tv AND tea kettle or other running appliances like coffee or blow dryer seems to trip the breaker. Seems like tea kettle has been the main culprit. We have found this has happened whenever someone uses the tea kettle so I would just turn off the other appliance when using the tea kettle)
HEAT: Our heating is an oil burner and we also have a wall mounted LED fireplace which works as a heater. Please do not crank up the thermostat. Our oil burner does not work well when you crank it up. You must increase the heat gradually and it will also increase gradually. If you find that you are cold because it's not heating fast enough, you may turn on the fireplace heater to warm up the place. Just make sure you have the heating setting on with the 3 squiggly lines.
FIRE WOOD: If you are planning to make fires outdoors in our fire pit you must bring your own wood. We do not provide guests with wood, we do not sell our wood, and guests are not permitted to use our supply at our private residence which is up next to the garage. There is a Stewart’s Shop less than 2 miles from the suite where you can purchase wood and there are multiple locations throughout Vermont that sell it, including Shaw's Supermarket in Manchester, VT. You may also want to get some fire starter sticks or small pieces of firewood to use as kindle to help start the fire. We find our guests like to sit here at night, drink some wine, and maybe toast some marshmallows. If you don't know how to start a fire, you may want to google it before your stay! (PS: do not use our toilet paper or paper towels to start your fires- we've seen guests do this before and that is not what these are for.)
LIGHTS AND APPLIANCES: Please turn off all lights, interior and exterior, and all appliances such as television, AC, fireplace, when leaving your suite to go do other fun things. There are 2 power switches inside the suite that turn on the 2 lights outside - the string lights and the one standing light. Please be conscious of them and turn them off when you go to bed or during the day.
BEARS AND GARBAGE: If you have garbage, please make sure to NOT leave it outside during your stay, because garbage and food will attract animals such as bears which we do not want coming to close to our cabin for the safety of everyone. You may leave your garbage in the can outside as soon as you check-out, but not during!
TOWELS: If you wear make-up: please use facial wipes or tissues with cream to remove make- up. Do not use our towels. I sometimes leave make-up remover wipes in the bathroom. Make-up stains and it’s hard to remove even when we wash them and it gets expensive to keep replacing towels. Do not dispose of these in the toilet because they will clog the toilet, which brings us to #11.
TOILET: Do not dispose of anything in the toilet that will clog it, such as too much toilet paper, facial wipes, tissues, paper towels, feminine products. Vermont's sewer system is not like where you may be used to living in. If the toilet clogs, we may not be able to fix it immediately, because plumbers are not readily available in these parts, especially if we are not around, and you may be left without a working toilet during your stay, and I will not refund your stay for clogging the toilet. To avoid this from happening, don’t throw anything in the toilet that will clog it. There is also a waste paper basket with a liner in the bathroom where you can throw all your papers. Nothing worse than a clogged toilet to ruin your stay. So far it hasn't happened so let's keep it that way! :)
WATER TUBING: During the summertime we leave water tubes outside the suite. You are welcome to take these down to the river.Just make sure to not deflate the tubes so the next guests can use them.
CHECK-OUT: Check-out is at 11am and this is a strict policy we have. Our cleaning lady is always scheduled to come shortly after this time so please be mindful of the check-out time, because then you will inconvenience here and make her wait, and she has other jobs scheduled after us.
